We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Territory Agronomist to join our dynamic team for a Castor Feedstock Value Chain Project. This role is pivotal in enhancing the productivity and sustainability of the castor seed supply chain within the designated territory. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in agronomy, a deep understanding of castor seed cultivation, and excellent interpersonal skills to effectively engage with farmers, stakeholders, and partners
Provide technical assistance and guidance to field agents and farmers on best practices for castor seed cultivation, including soil preparation, pest management, irrigation, and crop nutrition.
Organize and conduct training sessions and workshops to educate farmers on modern agricultural techniques, innovations, and sustainable practices related to castor seed production
Regularly visit farms to monitor crop health, assess soil conditions, and ensure compliance with agronomic recommendations. Identify and troubleshoot issues impacting crop performance.
Collect and analyze data on crop performance, pest outbreaks, and soil conditions. Prepare detailed reports and recommendations based on field observations and data analysis.
Build and maintain strong relationships with farmers, farmer organizations, and local agricultural organizations. Act as a liaison between the project team and the farming community.
Assist in the execution of project plans and initiatives, including seed distribution, input supply management, and adherence to project timelines and objectives
Ensure that all agronomic practices adhere to industry standards, environmental regulations, and project guidelines. Promote and enforce sustainable farming practices.
Diploma or Certificate in Agronomy/ General Agriculture, Crop protection, Horticulture or any equivalent. A Bachelor’s degree is a plus.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in agronomy, with a focus on field support and crop management. Experience with castor seed or similar crops is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of castor seed cultivation, soil management, pest and disease control, and crop nutrition. Proficiency in data analysis and report writing
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and motivate farmers and stakeholders. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Willingness to travel frequently within the designated territory to perform field inspections and support activities.
